Onigiri, yakitori, takoyaki, tenpura and ramen are some of the Japanese street food dishes that will be prepared in one big cooking show. From 3rd to 5th November, the first edition of Via Japan, the festival dedicated to Japanese streetfood, opens in Rome. The event is sponsored by the Japanese Cultural Institute and the Japanese National Tourist Organisation. The atmosphere of Tokyo will be the setting for seven chefs who will prepare a typical menu, creating a sensory experience that will combine tradition and innovation of one of Italy’s most cherished kitchens. It will be possible to participate in a masterclass on sushi and sake making. A Sake Mixology Bar will be set up, with workshops, a Japanese market and a kids area giving origami and onigiri courses.
